This year Deanna and I couldn’t be at the Elevation Talent Show. Zion made his debut appearance that afternoon and “stole the show” — and our hearts. Regardless, the SHOW MUST GO ON and we had a tremendous group of volunteers give a strong showing at this year’s event:
Thanks so much to all of the talent, volunteers, and the voters who came out to support. Together, you helped us raise just over $1,000 to support the student ministries of Destiny!
TOP THREE WINNING ACTS:
1st Place: the Astin family
2nd Place: Nick Reid
3rd Place: dance team featuring the Alyea’s, the Larimers, Shelby Reid, and Sarah DeWitt

There are probably a lot of you familiar with Michael Gungor and his music, you just don’t know it yet. Michael toured with Acquire the Fire a few years back and became well known for his worship songs “Battle Cry”, “Wrap Me in Your Arms, “Friend of God”, and the like. He has recently changed his band’s name from “Michael Gungor Band” to simply “Gungor”. With it comes a new and refined sound and creativity that I am absolutely digging. The creativity and musicianship is excellent; I cannot get enough. Here’s a taste of their newest release, “Beautiful Things”, that was released earlier this year.
This week, people started asking me, “Who is that singing/playing that last song in Zion’s ‘first day video’ [shared here on my personal site] ?” That’s when I realized that I wanted more people to experience Gungor. Here’s a beautiful acoustic version of their title song, “Beautiful Things”…
Lastly, Gungor plays “The Earth is Yours” live and in the forest. Love it!
Dare I say Gungor’s “Beautiful Things” might be my favorite album of the moment? I think it might be! Go check ‘em out on their [official web site] and snag yourself some awesome music now!
