Next week’s rally service is moving to the Elks Theatre downtown for a special community-wide event celebrating a drug and alcohol free life.  Our friend and artist, Angel Dean, will be the featured guest and will be sharing live music with his full band and stage production.  The doors open at 6:30 pm; we suggest meeting there at that time.  The event will also feature local students sharing their stories and a candlelight vigil.  Scheduled end-time is 8:30 pm.  See you there!

Visit Angel Dean at angeldean.com for music samples and more.

SCARRED – the next message series @ Elevate rally services

All students have some sort of pain and/or emotional scar they they need to learn to deal with. Most have several. Some have lots. Pain happens… it’s unavoidable.

The challenge for us is how to help students deal with the pain in realistic ways that are healthy and spiritually grounded. To help them make choices to overcome the past, but that also pave the way to future growth in their walk with Jesus. Listen to this short message from Pastor Shawn and keep us in your prayers over the next three weeks…

12 Seconds

What can you say in 12 seconds?  Not much, but this new short-video service might be a fun new way to incorporate video into your Twitter accounts, blogs, or even e-mail.  Check out 12seconds.tv and see for yourself.  It’s quick and it’s free!

12Seconds also has a lot of fun community “challenges” such as this one: “Sing Your Favorite Song When You Were 13.”  Here was my personal response…

12 challenge: Sing your favorite song when you were 13 on 12seconds.tv

Today’s challenge (as of this post): “How will you (or did you) make the world a better place today?”

Check out my other posts at my personal 12seconds channel.  The service is still in private beta, so if you need an invite, I still have a few left — just ask!  If you are a youth worker, check out this post for “10 Ways That You Can Use 12Seconds in Youth Ministry”.

See You @ the Pole and a Special Rally Service This Wednesday!

// September 19th, 2008 // No Comments » // Elevate Update

Two big things happening this Wednesday, September 24th.  First…

…it’s national See You at the Pole day.  It’s all about gathering with students from all over the world, meeting at your school’s flagpoles an hour before classes start, and praying.  Students…you, God, and your friends…don’t miss this opportunity to both make a “stand” for your faith and, at the same time, take a “knee” for your peers that don’t know God.  Powerful!

Then, later that evening…

This Wednesday night’s rally service is the BIG FINALE of the “Congratulations… You’re Gifted!” message series. We’ll start the evening by celebrating your stories from the morning’s See You at the Pole activities. We’ll continue by introducing you to several guest speakers that will be sharing with you about how God has used their “S.H.A.P.E.” to form their life and ministry!  And we’ll end the evening with lots of great give-aways! Not only are you gifted and shaped for God’s purpose and plan for your life – but next week you’ll be “GIFTED” with movie tickets, gift certificates, CD’s, T-shirts, and more! Don’t miss out!
