An Invitation…

// February 12th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Family Life

memannDeanna and I want to invite you, our friends and family, to a memorial service that we are having this coming Monday, February 16, at Destiny.  If you haven’t heard about the circumstances surrounding this event yet, please click here to read this important announcement that went out via Destiny’s Knee-mail earlier this week.

We’re looking forward to an amazing evening with you at Valapalooza (over 140 registered) and a God-filled weekend at Destiny’s three Sunday services.  Although it will be a strange mix of emotions for us this weekend, God is still our provider, healer, and giver of life.  Our hope and our trust is in Him. The last few months have been pretty hard to walk through at times, but we are so thankful for the loving and caring relationships we have in our friends and family at Destiny.  Thank you so much for your love and support.

How to Administer Bad Medicine

// December 26th, 2008 // 3 Comments » // Family Life

So, my two littlest girls have been dealing with nasty colds over the holidays. Bella actually had pink eye last weekend and Kella has had a fever the past couple days. Today, Deanna took them both to the doctor and they each came home with prescribed meds. Bella took hers fine (a surprise!), but our brand new four-year-old (Kella’s b-day was Christmas Eve) wouldn’t have any of it! We mixed it with a couple different drink varieties and still couldn’t get it down. After a few tries, we decided we’d try it ourselves and we quickly agreed (not in front of her) that this is some “bad medicine” — YUCK!

I called the pharmacist to see if there were any other options. He said “no” but to try mixing it with a few food items in addition to what we’ve already tried. Then, I remembered this following video post from Carlos Whittaker’s blog. Do you think it really works?  I’m willing to give it a try.

UPDATE: It totally worked!  Only four more days of this stuff to go…

Valley Fair Fun

Family-fun trip to Valley Fair and Mall of America with Grandma Pearl and Auntie Christy.  Here’s the pics and below are some of the theme park highlights.  Mind you, we didn’t film a lot of us adults (and our 2 teenagers) because we were always riding on the rides together.  Oh well, next time we’ll have to hire a videographer!

Family-Fun Trip

Yesterday we drove ALL DAY LONG to get to Shakopee, MN to enjoy a couple of days of fun at Valley Fair, the Mall of America, and wherever else time allows.  We made it safely with not too much complaint from the girls (although there were a few “whiney spells” — grin).
