    First.. Fake!!

  2. Payka says:

Ok now put it back on

  3. Fentex says:

That's possible but may have been helped along by some fudging – when you do that trick you pull the cloth down at the edges.

That motorbike pulled up on the cloth, which usually screws up the trick. But if you used a nice slick cloth, heavy objects etc you could still get away with it.

  4. Joe says:

it's great how everything on the table is made of metal

  5. Shane says:

@Jim – why do you say Fake? I'm not saying you're wrong I just want to know why you think that

  6. Mikea says:

    Even if it''s fake ; it's still awesome~

  7. Carter says:

not fake… i have actually done it, by hand with a table of about half that size. not as hard as it looks

  8. stumbler says:

    shopped

  9. Dan says:

that is completely fake you have to pull down on the sheet in order prevent anything from falling off

  10. Anon says:

The sad thing is that it would be quite easy to do that for real by leaving slack in the line, but they obviously faked it.

  11. Steven says:

I wonder how many times it took them to get that right

  12. eric says:

ok… i ride bikes… this basically defies the laws of physics—- FAKE

  13. zwazi says:

    BMW…??? Its a honda, man.

    • randomDude says:

It's clearly not, there's a bmw logo ingrained on the side; not a decal; but an actual logo emblem.

    • dibnah says:

u clearly havent being keeping up with the bike world my friend. this is the new beemer! and by all acounts its a beast!

    • chubbyknuckles420 says:

dude, pause the video at 58 seconds, you can see the BMW logo on the side of the bike, above the red and blue stripes….

  14. Someguy says:

    Obviously fake. =(

  15. Payka says:

    staged

  16. Becky says:

Has the Mad Hatter seen this?

  17. Gir says:

Liked it. Would've liked more if it looked real, but still liked it.

  18. Dave says:

Looks extremely fake. Like to see Mythbusters take it on.

  19. Who cares if it's fake, that was still cool. lol

  20. Hapi says:

Sorry, but that's totally fake. A motorcycle (or a vehicle of any kind) doesn't have high enough acceleration to overcome the initial friction (static friction) in between the objects and the tablecloth. And even if it did, there would still be much more movement in the objects than what was shown.

Sorry to be the physics nerd here. XD

    • a;sldkfj says:

if you were a physics nerd you would know the inertia of the objects on the table overcame the force of friction between the sheet and the objects due to newton's first law. You don't know what the coefficient of static friction is between the sheet and the objects, it could be pretty low!

    • Kevin says:

It's called frictionless steel. Look at how all the things on the table have metal on them. Physics nerd, my ass.

  21. ben says:

    ummm… totally not fake lol

  22. cyncha says:

    dats silly!!!

  23. Nick Howard says:

This is so easy to work out!! there's a piece of glass on the table and the table cloth is underneath that…. simples!

    • Godinho says:

Nick is right, there is a piece of glass. The cut between the scene and the final approach of the camera makes that obvious. Tough, still nice.

    • Matt says:

thank you! i was going to make the same comment. everyone else was just agreeing it was fake but i wonder how many people actually realized how it was faked.

      • Kevin says:

I don't think it was glass. Notice the candles' movement when pulled; that wouldn't be there if it was glass. Not to mention that glass would have weight to it when that large, no matter the thickness. Notice everything on the table having metal in it. Frictionless steel, would be my guess. And yes. That is a real thing. Lol.

  24. james kirk says:

    did he die?

  25. Jim says:

The reason I think it's fake is the fact that most of the video is aimed at the people. They would've at least showed a slow motion of the cloth going at a zoomed level.

  26. CarvinX says:

Man,,, what a bunch of winers,,,, It looks real enough to me.
It's awesome ! Too many people's glass if half empty…

  27. KingK says:

fake or not it was still fun to watch… and to zwazi it is a BMW not a Honda look at the fuel tank a little closer you can see the BMW emblem.

  28. Jess says:

Also, if you pause just at 0:38 as the cloth leaves the table, you can see a white board or something that the cloth slips out from under. When the camera goes close up on them at 0:48, the table is clearly wood coloured. Myth: busted :)

  29. tiberall says:

Fake, at 38 seconds you can tell that its on some sort of clear plastic table guide thing by the way the Candle holders bounce.

  30. qwerty says:

Maybe a sheet of glass, but if not, it was all magnetically kept in place, wither way, FAKE!

  31. Wolf says:

Video clips on the internet of awesome feats of artisan achievement always, always, include about a minutes worth of slow, slower, then super slow motion action replays at the end. If they really had done that trick they would have set up a dozen cameras, not one single perspective whilst the pulling took place. The makers of this advert, as that is what it is, tried to fool you into thinking it was a genuine stunt. Surely BMW can afford a better camera rig? Pendejos.

  32. Beanjuice says:

Jess pretty much nailed it . . .
    Layer 1: Table
    Layer 2: Tablecloth
Layer 3: Clear Plastic attached to the table to keep the settings in place
    Layer 4: Place settings

You can see all the settings move a little as the plastic shifts and the cloth comes out.

    Good illusion!

  33. James says:

I just gotta say, to those who just keep saying 'fake' go prove it's fake. And to the self-proclaimed Physics Nerd, you apparently don't squat about physics, since the initial acceleration of that type of motorcycle is more than enough to overcome the friction between some china and a tablecloth. The idea here is that the act is being replicated on a grander scale, but bigger doesn't necessarily mean harder. In fact, this is quite possibly likely if the objects are of higher than average weight, the tablecloth is silk or vinyl, etc. Give me a coefficient of friction and a breakdown of the acceleration and both potential and kinetic energy of the bike, the tablecloth, and the objects, and do the math to prove that the bike couldn't increase it's speed at a high enough rate to pull this off.

    • Dorian says:

Don't act like you know physics. Just because you took an introductory class doesn't prove anything. Even at that, you're still forgetting important elements to this equation. The elongated table means more time of contact between the cloth and the last piece of china under which the cloth passes. The acceleration of the bike is not fast enough to give the cloth enough velocity to cleanly sweep under the china. On a less technical note, notice how every piece of china moves uniformly, suggesting that they're all fixed together in some way.

  34. Lenthenomeal says:

ive seen a few episodes of m yth busters and as far as im concerned if they dont think its true they dont try very hard i saw the ninja one and they botched up all of the things they were trying to disprove because most people who watch it dont know jack squat. i know a few ways that this would be possible in any event but there not worth mentioning.

  35. tudor_mg says:

it does have a lagging moment right at the middle of the table….0:36 – 0:37….you can notice that by the guy's reaction….it's post production cut and stich….

  36. Lenthenomeal says:

first of all look at the tension on the sheet as it is pulled from the table from the front (toward the bike) to the back as the bike pulls forward on the sheet. it upholds all the laws of physics as if something was on top of it the sheet also reacts the same way it would at the front end if you pull it away from the table without pulling it down then yes you are going to get a bubble that forces the center of it higher then the two points where the rope it tied as the rope tied to one point on the bike will try and pull the sheet to the center leaving a closer space then that of the table itself hence the bubble and there is no glitch between the two points that's the guy looking at the table rapidly it is one solid zoom i watched it at least 10 times. however if you are still not certain i can get a hi def copy and slow it down so that you can see it for yourself

  37. loler1979 says:

Fake or not, this is still awesome! Nice bike!

  38. Rich says:

Or…all the metal is held down by a magnet under the table?

  39. BMWTwisty says:

2loler1979: Fake or not, this is still awesome! Nice bike!

    Exactly!

Check out the Z-4 ad where the guy “paints” a giant canvas using the car as a brush.

  40. Merrilandisoverkill says:

It is totally possible but its obviously staged in order to make a good COMMERCIAL. God just enjoy it.

  41. ozgur sahin says:

Hey,, it was amazing and crazy lol….

  42. Andrew says:

look closely at the pane of glass on the table and the sheet was under it so the dishes dont contact the sheet

  43. Marty says:

Funniest looking BMW I ever saw.

  44. brad says:

    FAKKKKE

  45. Tabby says:

damn you guys just love thinking stuffs fake dont you….wow its a trick….just go oooo and ahhh and be happy with it there dont need to be alot of controversy over it…in my opinion it was kinda kool :D

  46. Frank M says:

Nick Howard is correct…..I would say though instead of actual glass, it is Plexi-glass…..and viola no problem at all. If you look at the video closely you can actually see that not even the utensils move slightly. This, I would say, would be due to the fact of the table cloth being under the Plexi-glass.

  47. Ivan says:

hey what's the song used for ?
    awesome…

  48. Agh! Can't decide if it's fake or not, really good though

  49. Smakovich says:

This is too fake, so fake i'm feeling underestimated. The bike-pull scene is very digital, the rest is live footage to make it feel real. Besides, the physics scream NO, the bike has LESS acceleration than the guy pulling the sheet… it would be more probable that the guy made it than the BMW S1000 RR bike, sorry, i'm sure it's a fast and beautiful bike, but it can't do that.
