Either that, or run amok dragging the leash all over the place, wreaking havoc. "Oh, you liked that vase? Well you should have never put a leash on me, now look at your vase in pieces on the floor, let that be a lesson, now feed me".
My cat does the same thing!!! I try to take him out from my apartment but I live by a road so he has to be on a leash so he wont get hit by a car and he just sits there!
I have four cats and every single one of them is great at the ragdoll impersonations. If they don't want to do something they can become totally boneless. But they are so cute when doing it that you can't get upset with them, all you can do is laugh at them.
My cat was the same. If she didn'y want to do something she couldn't be forced. That's why I love cats, they're the boss over their lives, not you. Very cute though LOL
here we observe the difference between people, dogs, and cats. in the same situation a human and a dog will eventually give in to the indignity of a leash (like the one my mom attached to me as a child (which had the unintended consequence of the name "dog boy" sticking to me untill i was 30) but that's another story), whereas a cat, being smarter in it's than dogs or people will wear YOU down until YOU are trained to do what the cat wants you to do. I, having currently 7 feline roommates, know exactly whereof i speak!
Maybe you could try easing the cat into a harness. Full grown cats that have never even seen a harness will react exactly like that. Let kitty sniff the harness & get used to it's smell. Then put the harness on for probably around 5 minutes a day for about a week or so, and raise the amount of time kitty wears it after that. Before you know it (or before you die) kitty will be ok wearing a harness.
consider that as a kitten, its probly instinct to go limp should momma take you by the 'harness' area and lift you with her teeth.
this must certainly have been an embarrasment for the poor cat.
shame…..hehehe
My cat rebelled at first. Then she realized that was the only way she could go outside for a walk. People actually stopped their cars to stare at us. LOL. She eventually learned to come when I called her and no longer needed the leash. Very smart kitty.
it is beyond cruel to haul the cat around like that – it probably hurts him to be dragged by the harness across the floor. My cat has walked on a leash since she was a kitten because it was done incrementally, with lots of love and encouragement, and because she likes being with me. This poor cat, dragged by a loop around his midsection, is obviously hating the situation and is now imprinted that leashes hurt and are not pleasant. NOT a good training method. Idiots like this should not own pets.
I'd just like to say to all the people who automatically deem this is "cruel". You OBVIOUSLY don't own cats, this couple just took a video of their car being retarded on a leash when it didn't want to walk and posted it on youtube. People do this all the time, the cat was never dragged around, besides the short span on the WOODEN floors! The cat was not in pain in anyway, nor was rebelling in a violent manner, he simply didn't want to walk right then. If the cat was in any sort of pain or ill treatment, I can assure you, the cat would have made that apparent. To Abby's Mother, I do hope you realize what a harness is, and maybe you should do some research on them before posting comments where you have no idea what you are talking about. You simply stated that a harness is a "loop around the midsection" as it is not. What I deem cruel is a cat that could forcibly be controlled by a loop around the NECK. You're very stuck up about your own methods and were so torn by this video you didn't even HEAR the camera man say "don't drag him on the ground" AKA "don't actually hurt him". If the couple didn't care for their cat they wouldn't have been filming, or even walking their cat in the first place. Please think before you make stuck up, uneducated comments.
The only response I will accept to this is one where you show me the link to actual cat abuse, and promptly apologize to the other people on this page for defiling it with no-cat-know-how, and narcissism. Idiots like AbbysMom should think before posting dumb comments.
You said pretty much exactly what I was thinking.
Thank you. There are one too many "cat lovers" on the internet, like AbbeysMom. By that I mean, those who seem to think they know all about cats, yet don't seem to have any sort of clue.
Actually one of my cats loves the harness and leash. He will actually walk in front of me down the sidewalk. he even walked some in the pet parade but couldn't keep up the pace with the dogs the whole way and it was upsetting some of the dogs.
All the people who are saying their cats love to go for a walk or whatever: Good for you, you've just proven that you're not the couple in the video.
All the people crying abuse: Sure, these people aren't too bright, but they are not abusing their animal. Clearly you've never been around an actual cat for any length of time. You can't make them do anything they don't want to. This is a simple fact of cat nature.
This is just not funny and whoever you are dragging your poor cat around is cruel to the cat and upsetting to watch for us & could actually injure your cat – are you sure you love your cat? If you want to learn how to walk your cat on a leash spend the time researching the subject properly as it takes a lot of effort, patience, respect and love, and some cats will simply refuse to ever do it even after all that.
I love cats because they have such an attitude!
Agreed. Ours thinks he owns the place.
ABUSE
haha wow
Is that cat sick? Seems like he or she is on some kind of drug or something.
I think he just REALLY did NOT want to go on our walk! Looks like a loving family, don't you think?
Almost all cats react like that to being on a leash.. we tried with my cat only to get the same result >.<
Either that, or run amok dragging the leash all over the place, wreaking havoc. "Oh, you liked that vase? Well you should have never put a leash on me, now look at your vase in pieces on the floor, let that be a lesson, now feed me".
The cat isn't sick, I know a ton of cats who just lay there when you put a harness on them, they just don't like it

HAHAHA! Cat's crack me up.
My cats love to go out on the leash. Its simple, you teach them the same way you teach a puppy.
I wonder why it's so rare that you see that?

I walk my cat, he loves it!
that just looked insanely cruel, pretty obvious the cat was totally pissed with the idea …….
This is pretty screwed up. People like that shouldn't own pets.

the cat is all.. meh you want to walk me fine, do all the work. haha

I never had to take my cat for a walk… My cat always walked with me..
